a single piece of paper or cardboard designed to be hung from a streetlamp or pasted onto a wall or door, advertising an event or promoting a cause. An effective poster has to be big enough to contain text that is easy to read clearly. A poster advertising an art exhibition might use a reproduction of a famous painting, and the poster itself could become a popular collectorâ??s item.
